Since launching Painting Perceptions in February 2009, I\u2019ve shared over 400 interviews, reviews, videos, and reflections, both my own and from generous contributors, often focused on painters working from observation. It\u2019s been a privilege to spotlight both renowned artists and lesser-known but deeply compelling voices in contemporary painting, and to connect with so many readers who share a passion for modern and perceptual painting. Over the past couple of years, I\u2019ve gradually stepped back from posting as regularly. Like many of you, I\u2019ve had to recalibrate where I put my time and energy, especially as I focus more on my own painting and life.<\/p>\n
So, for now, Painting Perceptions will be going on an extended sabbatical.<\/p>\n
I do have ideas for the future, possibly returning in a more sustainable way, with shorter-form interviews or occasional pieces. I\u2019d still be glad to consider guest contributions from artists or writers who wish to share their writings or interviews, feel free to contact me<\/a>. At some point, I also plan to redesign the site to make it easier to navigate and revisit the archive. To highlight the many interviews\u2014like those with Lennart Anderson, Stanley Lewis, Kyle Staver, Zoey Frank, Israel Hershberg, Susannah Phillips, Gerry Bergstein, Sigal Tsabari, and Robert Birmelin\u2014that I hope will remain easily discoverable for years to come.<\/p>\n Thank you to everyone who donated, contributed writings, shared their work, advertised or otherwise supported the site. Your help has made all the difference.
